EPRU Women’s All Star 7s Program Finishes 2nd in NYC Tournament

The Eastern Pennsylvania Rugby Union (EPRU) Women’s All Star 7s team finished second within the Club Division of the 2019 New York Rugby Sevens Tournament.  Twelve players from five EPRU clubs combined their efforts to go undefeated through three pool play matches, beating Femme Fatales 24-12, TMRRFC Women 43-5, and Oshawa Vikings 31-0.  Try scorers in pool play were Gabby Wood, Britta Gamache, Coryn Rank, Hannah Bratzler, Jadelyn Rivera, Jenelle Fuller and Rachel Allison.  Coryn Rank and Rachel Allison also handled kicking duties for the day.

The semi-final opponent was Feline Dion out of Canada, but the EPRU was undaunted and ultimately victorious with a score of 36 – 19 .  Jenelle Fuller led the scoring with two tries, and Kelsey McGarvey, Rachel Allison, Jadelyn Rivera and Coryn Rank each contributed a solo try.

The day’s final match saw EPRU succumb to an exceptionally well-drilled Nova Scotia Keltic’s side.  The EPRU was valiant in their efforts but were unable to match the cohesiveness and precision of the Canadian team, losing 5-19.

The EPRU is extremely proud of the Women’s All Star players, coaches, and administrators, and congratulate all involved that have made this first all star showing a success.
